Coarsegold Cabin

Guest Rating:

Vacation rental cabin / bungalow. Sleeps 6, 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom. Cats, Dogs allowed.

28104 Highway 41 Coarsegold, CA 93614 United States

Take a break from your hectic everyday world and experience the unique opportunity of staying in an original 1920's homestead cabin.
Bill Lorentzen, after being wounded in action in WW1, returned home from France to his family homestead property below Black Hawk Mountain in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada. Bill and his wife Kay built their classic Ponderosa Pine cabin with knotty pine interior walls, set over the Coarsegold Creek with its own natural waterfall and swimming hole. In the cabin, Bill had the perfect place to recoup. Once there, he recovered from the war in mind and body.
My family purchased the property and home from Bill and Kay 60 years ago, with the condition they could remain in their cabin till the day they passed.
Today you can cozy up in their rustic, homey, comfortable cabin. It sleeps 6, with one queen bed, two twins, and a double futon. The cabin interior has a country-style floor plan with 2 bedrooms,1bathroom, and a large family room with kitchen, dining and living space. The kitchen has been updated by replacing the wood burning oven with a large Wolf Range stove ready to create delectable meals. There is a spacious bathroom between the two bedrooms, with a claw foot tub and shower.
From the wrap-around cabin decks, guests take in spectacular sunrises and sunsets with peaceful meditative elements from the nearby creek. The decks offer an opportunity for afternoon bird watching, stunning sunsets and evening stargazing — Make a wish on the first of many shooting stars you will see! At the end of your day, enjoy a BBQ on your private deck.
The cabin is surrounded by 50 private acres full of the land's rich history. Hiking trails meander across rolling hills, open meadows and naturally formed rock formations. The property features beautiful trees (century old oaks, manzanitas and buckeyes), wildlife, and grazing horses. Guest can hike along the Coarsegold creek named by gold rush prospectors when they discovered nuggets in the creek. From the clear spring-fed swimming hole, you can soak in the California sun while being surrounded by natural rock formations. The waterfall is flowing for 8 months of the year. If you look closely at certain rocks you will find the well-worn bowls formed over the years when the local Native Americans would grind their acorns. There is also a beautiful pig wall made out of stones used in the early 1900's to keep the farming pigs contained.
The property is located 30 miles south of Yosemite National Park. Nearby attractions include: majestic lakes (Bass and Millerton), skiing at Badger Pass and China Peak, golfing in YLP and Yosemite, gambling at Chukchansi Resort and Spa, and many other recreational opportunities.
This private Coarsegold cabin holds all the magic and mystery of the California homestead days. Treat yourself to an unforgettable natural cabin experience where open skies and undeniable beauty beckons each day.
Here at Bill and Kay's Cabin, you will discover the true meaning of relaxation.

Aloha All - we though-ally enjoyed our short stay of 3 nights, and wanted to stay longer. If only work didn't get in the way. The Cabin: very cool, quaint, but had everything to be comfortable. The rustic, and old construction, is what applealed to us in the first place. Little challenging to find elec outlets inside, but later found a bunch of extension cords we could have used. The kitchen was awesome, not palatial but great gas oven and range. The cutting board island was very handy, and often a great place to stand and talk with a sip of wine and beer. Bedrooms: not huge, but not too small either. Beds were excellent in regards to comfort. Bathroom: very cool, spacious, and classic. Yes the water has an odor, but, i read prior to arriving this to be expected. Living room: funiture a bit dated, the TV is tiny. But, not of concern for us because we spent 85% of our time outside enjoying the 3 decks. really came in handy during different times of day to avoid sun issues. All in all, it is a special, beautiful property, quiet, and relaxing. Highly recommend for those not looking for new construction and / or modern amenities. Hope the next time we go, we can do it in the spring to experience the creeks and waterfalls.
PS: The staff at Century 21 were very responsive and great to deal with. Sal: on the other hand....LOL..Just kidding Sal. Sal was very cool and great. Hope we can get back there soon to say hello again. Cheers from Hawaii - aloha ;-)

We had a great time. The cabin was very private and peaceful. The only disappointing thing was the water hole and creek was dried up. Nothing you could have done about that. This was one of our best vacation ever
